morven’s magic
October 18 2007
one of my favorite forms
of morvenmagic is:
those little words she
says in the morning that
make all the difference
’shall i put the kettle on?’
(well, it’s ‘poot’ which rhymes with ‘foot’)
she has this way about her that
just puts us all at ease & makes
us laugh and relax in her presence.
and the boys are endlessly amused
with her scottish pronunciation.
i did have to stop her yesterday,
look at her face (an attempt to
read her lips) and ask her to
‘repeat that, in english?’
and the stories she tells of when
they were little make them
cackle hysterically.
(between morven, cory, and my cousin, heather,
lies all of my oral history.
they’ll tell a story and i’m like,
oh, yeah! i remember that.
and they’re like,
nathan’s birth?! you should remember that)
her godliness abounds.
her patience knows no limits.
(family of 6? no problem)
i’ve always suspected a halo under
that pretty brown hair of hers &
bet that one day she’ll just vaporize and
we’ll know she was an angel among us.
